Khabib Nurmagomedov, the new UFC lightweight champion, gloated over victory and told Conor Mcgregor that he is ready to go anytime. This comes after a week of constant feuds and encounters from the two UFC fighters and a turnaround rate that’s rarely seen. Khabib the first muslim champ also told the irish fighter that he will have to beg him for a chance at the title after last thursday’s eruption.
On April 5th Conor Mcgregor dominated social media when news leaked that he attacked a bus carrying Khabib Nurmagomedov and other fighters that were scheduled to attend UFC 223. On Saturday UFC released footage which showed Conor, his close friend and training partner Artem Lobov and others damage a UFC bus . Conor in full fury can be see hurling dollies and steel rails at bus shattering several windows and injuring some fighters.
Officers quickly responded to the scene and Conor was arrested and released on a $50,000 bond. Mcgregor was seen escorted out of his hearing on Friday morning, in his usualy demeanor, his head held up high as he approach his car ride. But this time its different, his foe is not inside a ring and he wont be able to beat this problem into submission. He has been charged with felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor counts of assault, menacing and reckless endangerment and could face up to 7 years on prison for his backstage scuffle.
The skirmish also forced lightweight fighter Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg out of their UFC 223 matches and into the hospital due to several facial lacerations. The fighter’s absence left Brandon Moreno and Anthony Pettis without an adversary on the ring. It also cost Artem Lobov his bout with Alex Caceres which was one to the Preliminaries to UFC 223.
The fight might actually have been started two days before the bus attack when Lobov and Khabib had a dispute at a hotel and were separated by UFC Personnel. It is still unclear what the dispute was about.
Others claim that the feud was due to UFC’s decision to strip Conor of his lightweight title since he has absent from the ring for almost 2 years.
UFC owner and CEO Dana White quickly shifted gears on Friday claiming that he and Mcgregor still had a strong relationship and were good friends after commenting that the fighter “must have been of drugs” and “A man who has children does not behave in that manner”.
Conor is known for his ability to predict how he will win his battles, he might have a harder time with this one. Conor Mcgregor is scheduled to appear in court in June 14, 2018.
